Heat exhaustion easier in high school than the NFL

Right now, it's easier to become a casualty of the record-breaking heat if you're involved in high school sports than if you play sorts for a living.

The NFL has announced an end to "two-a-days," or twice-daily practice sessions.

In the world of Texas high school football, there's no such ban. School districts are free to determine what they think is safe.

Right now, the districts I have seen are "exercising caution" and allowing coaches to determine what's safe. If you think that's effective, go Google "football death" — even a coach died recently.

Where's the sanity in high school athletics and personal safety?

Oh yeah — this is Texas.
